Just a quick tip for saving a few bucks on tickets (which can be really useful in tough times such as what we are currently facing): Next time you need sports tickets (or tickets for musical/theater events) you may want to check out a new service called Seatwave. Shopping around is always the best when it comes to tickets so that you can get the best price available since they can get very expensive (especially Yankee tickets.) Seatwave is a sort of Ebay for tickets, where sellers post their tickets meaning that you may be able to find good bargains on it. If you are looking to sell tickets you can also post there. The service seems kind of like StubHub, but again it is best to shop around, so looking at both places (as well as others) is probably in your interest if you want to get the best bargain.
I know the blog has been kind of dead lately, but look for more posts to start coming soon. I have been really busy and that has kept me away from the blog, but I will try to post at least once a week from now on. Thanks for the patience and I hope you stick with this blog.
I haven’t posted in a while, partly because of me announcing earlier that I would not be able to update daily anymore and partly because the past 10-or-so days have just been depressing for me as a Yankee fan. The playoffs are still within reach, but something better start clicking soon. With tonight’s abominable 15-3 loss against the Jays and Carl Pavano scheduled to start Saturday we really need a miracle just about now.
First it was Hank giving up on the team, then it was Gerritt Cole going to UCLA instead of signing with the Bombers, and now it is the still injury-plagued Yanks sitting 6 games behind the Red Sox for the wildcard with huge holes in the rotation. I am an optimist, so I haven’t given up just yet, but things aren’t looking the best at the moment.
Brett Favre has been traded to the Jets! I know its not baseball-related news, but it is huge and it does have to do with New York sports (plus, I’m a Jets fan.) This move really improves the team at the biggest question and if Favre plays anything like he did last year, that could mean a playoff appearance and maybe more for the Jets. On top of that, Favre and the Jets get to take on Brady and the Cheatriots twice a year, in what are bound to be great games. It’s going to be great!
If A-Rod had not opted out of his contract last year he would have made 100k a piece for making the All Star team and being first in votes. I’m sure he doesn’t really care about it because it is nothing compared to the $27 million he is making this year. The comfort of a long contract is probably worth losing the 200k as well. Anyway, he has bigger things to worry about right now with his divorce and the swarming Madonna rumors…
This isn’t exactly related to the Yankees or the MLB for that matter, but I think it is still worth posting. It is a video by the Onion, in which they mock the NHL and how it doesn’t really compare to the other professional sports in America. I actually like the NHL, but this video is funny nonetheless. Just sit back and enjoy:
Ok, so it isn’t the right sport, but who cares? It is still New York vs. Boston and that is a big deal, especially with Boston’s hot streak of late (the Red Sox, Celtics, Pats, even BC played better than usual). Well, guess what? It is 2008, a new year, and it is time for that streak to end. What a better way to end it than with the Giants beating the Patriots in the Superbowl. Ok, maybe I am getting ahead of myself, but I truly believe that Eli and the Giants can defeat Belicheat’s crew. You can probably tell the Red Sox aren’t the only Boston team I hate. I am actually a Jets fan, which makes my hatred of the Patriots similar to that of the Red Sox since they are our division rivals. It would have been better in the Jets took out the Pats in the playoffs, but hey I’m not complaining; I am still happy with the Giants taking on our Boston foes. Lets hope this is the beginning of taking back the sports throne for New York. Do I hear the Yankees playing into late October?
