As the New York Yankees have built their legacy in the last 100+ years, many fans and enthusiasts of the team and baseball have written books about the Yankees organization, owners, players, and legends. There are many Yankees books currently on the market, some of them even being bestsellers. Others are less famous, but many contain amazing stories about the New York Yankees and the mystic that surrounds the prestigious organization. Below are some New York Yankees books that you might want to check out if you are a Yankees fan or even just a baseball fan in general. Some of these stories really are wonderful and important to the story of baseball as a sport:
Steinbrenner: Quotes, Hits, & Legacy
This book revolves around probably the most famous (and to some infamous) Yankees owner: the late George Steinbrenner. Steinbrenner is known for his at-times knee-jerk reactions and dedication to winning for the Yankees. He recently left behind quite the legacy having restored a great organization back to the top tier of baseball and bringing in several championships during his tenure as owner of the Yanks. Now, his sons control the team. Check out this Steinbrenner book.
The Last Boy: Mickey Mantle and the End of America’s Childhood
This Yankee book is about one of the greatest Yankees to ever play the game: Mickey Mantle. The book is a biography of the great Mantle which includes detailed insights into parts of his life that you might not otherwise have known about.
The Yankee Years
This book was written by the great Yankees manager, Joe Torre, who is now the manager of the L.A. Dodgers. Torre led the team to four World Series wins and is noted as one of the greatest managers to ever be in Major League Baseball. This is his take on his time with the New York Yankees and his tale of being the one manager who George Steinbrenner stuck with the most. Check out this Joe Torre book.
Yankees Century: 100 Years of New York Yankees Baseball
This book covers just what the title says- a century of Yankees baseball. The book is extremely thorough, with some amazing details from Yankees history. It is a great read for Yankees and baseball fans alike.
Yankee Stadium: A Tribute: 85 Years of Memories: 1923-2008
This Yankee stadium book covers the great stadium that was just recently replaced with the New Yankee stadium. It takes a reverent look at the House that Ruth Built, the amazing edifice where so much of Yankees history happened and where so many players went from being young prospects to some of the greatest to ever play the game. It covers Yankee stadium history from its opening in 1923 to its closing and continues information about other amazing historical events that took place on the fields from the 9/11 memorial service to the papal mass.
The Bronx Bombers have been a great part of baseball history and even if you are not a fan of the team, this history is still a part of every other baseball team and the league and sport itself. Some of these books tell the greatest stories in the sport’s history and are worth the read.

The Yankee Years is a great book. Torre was one of the greatest Yankee managers of all time, and now he’s the exec VP of all MLB. It’s a good read for all Yankee fans.
